Adults and older adults: 
Halton Region Health Department may provide financial assistance for dental treatment for individuals without dental insurance or other coverage and who would have difficulty paying for dental treatment  
* for application and assessment contact Halton Region Health Dept at 905-825-6000  
* eligible individuals may include Ontario Works recipients with an urgent dental condition or adults with a dental need who are 65 and older, or aged 64 and under with special needs (difficulty with getting dressed, bathing, grooming, toileting, or physical transferring)

Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program provides routine dental care for low-income seniors over the age of 65 living in Ontario with no other dental benefits 
* coverage includes: check-ups, including scaling, fluoride and polishing * repairing broken teeth and cavities * x-rays * removing teeth or abnormal tissue (oral surgery) * anesthesia * treating infection and pain (endodontic services) * treating gum conditions and diseases (periodontal services)  
* dental prosthetics (prosthodontic services), including dentures, will be partially covered (contact Halton Region Health Department for more information)

Oral hygiene, cleaning, etc:  
1. Canadian Academy of Dental Health and Community Sciences dental hygiene clinic 
* teeth cleaning, oral cancer screening, periodontal and dental exams, X-rays, oral hygiene assessment, recommendation and instruction, nutritional counselling, smoking cessation, desensitizing, fluoride, sealants, whitening, sport guards

2. Some colleges with oral health education programs have reduced-cost oral hygiene clinics: 
* in the Burlington/Hamilton area this is available only at the Southern Ontario Dental College in Ancaster (for information see here

3. Cleaning, scaling, oral hygiene services, etc. may be less expensive at independent dental hygienists, rather than through a dentist's office
