| Description | The School Years Program promotes the health of children and youth (age 6 – 18 years) and their families by providing a variety of services in the area of: * Active Living / Healthy Eating * Developmental Assets and Youth Engagement * Healthy Growth & Development * Healthy Relationships / Sexual Health * Mental Health * Positive Parenting * Sun safety and injury prevention * Tobacco, alcohol and substance use prevention How service is provided: * Work with children, youth, parents, caregivers and/or educators, and groups * Provide face to face and telephone consultation, information and advice, linkages and referral to other community resources or services * Support elementary and secondary schools, and community committees Programs and services include: * Parent/Caregiver Family Support * Triple P Positive Parenting Program – educational seminars, group skills training, face to face meetings, telephone consultation/support School Support: * Consultation and support for school staff, committees, parents and students to help plan and implement healthy school activities * Curriculum support and supplementary resources for staff and students * Linking with community resources, programs and services * Mental Health Liaison Nurse services available to students in grades 6 to 12 including: * mental health and early risk assessments * consultations with parents, schools, community health professionals * brief supportive counselling and referrals to community resources. Community Support: Collaboration with individuals, groups and organizations, networks and committees to promote healthy development of children and youth.
