Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Environmental Health: 
* investigates environmental health hazard reports and complaints 
* inspects public recreational water facilities, including swimming pools, spas and wading pools, to ensure they meet provincial regulations and protocols 
* conducts inspections and sample monitoring of small drinking water systems 
* responds to reports of adverse drinking water and waterborne illness  
* promotes private well water testing and maintains water depots  
* monitors public bathing beaches for safe swimming conditions 
* reviews land use planning and development proposals as they relate to safe water and health hazards in the environment 
* provides education about the Smoke-Free Ontario Act and Electronic Cigarettes Act 
* enforces the Smoke-Free Ontario Act and Electronic Cigarettes Act at tobacco vendors, enclosed workplaces, enclosed public places, schools, residential care facilities, hospitals, bars and restaurants 
* enforces Halton Region's 9-metre Smoking By-Law which prohibits smoking within 9 metres of any entrance or exit of regional and municipal buildings 
* investigates and responds to reports of possible human rabies exposures 
* enforces rabies vaccination of cats and dogs 
* inspects seasonal farm worker accommodation 
The following beaches are monitored to ensure conditions are safe for swimming: 
Oakville: Coronation Park east and west beaches and Bronte Park beach  
Burlington: Beachway Park and Brant Street beach  
Milton: Kelso beach 
Halton Hills: Prospect Park Old beach
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
