| Description | * applications for a birth, marriage or death certificate registered in Ontario can be made online * the application will be processed in up to 15 days * or premium online service, for an extra charge, can be delivered in five business days * visit Identification and Certificates to apply Birth certificate: * the birth must be registered in Ontario to use the online service before applying for a birth certificate * if you have not registered the birth of your child and the child is less than one year old use the 4-in-1 Newborn Bundle 4-in-1 Newborn Bundle: * use this service to apply for: birth registration * birth certificate * social insurance number * Canada Child Benefits, including the Ontario Child Benefit * change your sex designation on your birth registration and birth certificate The Office of the Registrar General holds Ontario records for: * births that happened during the past 95 years * marriages that happened during the past 80 years * deaths that happened during the past 70 years * to obtain records prior to that time contact The Archives of Ontario, 134 Ian MacDonald Blvd. Toronto, ON M7A 2C5 Service standards for paper applications not submitted online: Regular: * 6 to 8 weeks Expedited: * 10 business days (plus shipping time), proof of urgency required Emergency: * in person at ServiceOntario, 47 Sheppard Avenue East, 4th Floor, Unit 417 Toronto, ON M2N 5X5 with $30 surcharge fee * 2 business days plus shipping time * proof of urgency required | ||
