| Description | The purpose of St. John Ambulance is to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community services. St John Ambulance offers a variety of Special Courses including: standard First Aid * CPR Basic Rescuer * Heartsaver * Emergency First Aid * Automated External Defibrillation * First Aid and Infant & Child CPR * Wilderness First Aid * Advanced First Aid * What every Babysitter should Know * many combinations of these courses and a variety of renewal courses * weekday and weekend sessions are available * courses are offered on an ongoing basis. Additional courses by request: Presentations * Workshops * Marine First Aid * Oxygen Administration * Automated External Defibrillation * The Lifesaver. Volunteer Services: Adult Medical First Responders - Medical First Responders provide mobile first aid services for community events * recruits volunteers to assist with Grade 3 school presentations * for the new Car Seat Safety Team. Call for more information. Youth Services - Three levels of participation * St. John Juniors (6-10 years) * St. John Cadets (11-15 years) * St. John Crusaders (16-20 years) * the St. John Ambulance Youth group teaches first aid * leadership * community service. Therapy Dogs - Volunteers with therapy dogs do weekly visits to area health care facilities to provide companionship to young and senior members of the community who are sick or lonely. St. John Ambulance provides a certification program for family pets who have the talent to emotionally heal. Call organization for course dates or for more information. * First Aid Kits, Books, and Supplies - The range of first aid kits include soft-sided kits for the family, specially designed kits for pets, babysitter kits, and hard-cased industrial first aid kits. |

| Eligibility | * First Aid Volunteers - anyone from 11 years and up; * Cadet Program - available for youth from 8-17 years; * Therapy Dog Volunteers - anyone who has an interest in committing to regular visitation schedule and who owns a well-groomed dog with a wonderful temperament may participate in the program. |
