Description and Service Details
Description (Service) The center for preserving and exploring Halton's natural and cultural heritage. The centre houses the offices of Halton Region's Heritage Services division and the Region's collections of artifacts and archival material. 
 
Heritage Network 
Heritage Services is the hub of a network for institutions and organizations working in the heritage field in Halton Region. Through this network, professional services such as interpretive and program planning, exhibit development, design, fabrication and evaluation and training and professional development for staff and volunteers are offered. Heritage Services will co-host (with Regional Tourism Organization #3), a one day conference on Thursday, April 6 at the Royal Botanical Gardens for Heritage organizations, cultural groups, tourism partners and more. Preservation Services 
Heritage Services cares for a collection of artifacts and archival materials which are owned by the Regional Municipality of Halton. Heritage Services accepts donations from the public that speak to the history and culture of Halton on a case-by-case basis. The archives and reference library are available for researchers by appointment only.  
 
Programming and Exhibits 
Heritage Services creates memorable, engaging and accessible exhibits and public programs to encourage discovery, appreciation and understanding of Halton's heritage.  
 
Travelling Exhibits available:  
“Beyond Sit & Stay” produced by Heritage Services that explores the many ways in which dogs assist humans, including detection, security and therapy. 
 
* "Who Is Halton" explores the history and culture of the area that would become Halton Region by focusing on the personal stories of its residents, from First Nations and early settlers to its namesake Major William Halton, long-time residents and recent arrivals. Through the winter and spring Heritage Services staff will be collecting stories and recollections to explore a region through its people. 
 
* New on line and travelling exhibits will be available starting in 2017.
