Description (Service) This record summarizes holiday season donation and sponsorship programs, community meals which provide an opportunity for all members of the public to enjoy a Christmas meal with others (all are free of charge), and volunteering opportunities.

VOLUNTEERING 
 
Volunteer Halton has volunteering opportunities for a wide range of local nonprofit organizations. 
 
GET HELP: Free Community Dinners 
 
Provides an opportunity for the public to enjoy a Christmas meal with others. 
* the following dates are for a traditional Christmas meal  
* all are free, and open to the public  
* donations accepted  
 
St. Paul's United Church, Yuletide Fair

Boston Presbyterian Church, Country Christmas Bazaar 
Where: 9185 Third Line/ Boston Church Road, Halton Hills 
When: Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m 
Baking, deli, sewing, knitting, craft tables and a “Country Store”. Hot lunch of soup or chili with roll, and plate of goodies. Lunch costs: $8 for adults, $4 for 5-10 year olds, under 5 free. Just tea and goodies $4

Boston Presbyterian Church, Nativity Display and Christmas Tea

Cost of event is $7 with proceeds going to local charities and The Darling House for Kids

GIVE HELP: Food, Gift and Toy Drives 
 
Halton Regional Police Service, Toys for Tots  
Donations of new unwrapped toys, Canadian Tire money, cash or gift cards at various locations for distribution by the Salvation Army.  
Where: Drop off at any police station or any Canadian Tire store

Halton Regional Police Service, 2017 Stockings for Seniors 
Donations of new small "Christmas stocking" size gifts to give to Senior's staying in Long Term Care facilities on Christmas morning. Items being collected include; body wash (unscented), body lotion (unscented), deodorant, non-slip socks/slippers, night gown/pajamas, diabetic candies, nail polish, chocolates etc. Other items can be word books, small puzzles, and small games.

Toys for the North, Royal Canadian Mounted Police 
Donations of new unwrapped toys at our Milton Detachment during regular business hours.

When: Donation boxes will be available between Monday, October 30, 2017 and Monday, November 20, 2017, 9 am – 3:30 pm.

Fill a Crib Campaign, Milton Community Resource Centre 
Pick up a star with a personal donation challenge or donate an item to participate.

Miracle on Main Street!, Tigerjeet Singh Foundation 
* Bring a new unwrapped toy to help brighten a child's holiday 
* Meet Tigerjeet Singh, Walter Gretzky, Tiger Ali Singh, Maple Leaf Alumni & Ti-Cats, Dignitaries and more celebrities, Amusement rides, Live entertainment & more (free admission) 
Where: Troy's Diner, 295 Main Street, Milton 
When: Mon Dec 11, 2017 7 am-10 am 
 
The Annual Milton Community Food Drive presented by The Salvation Army and the Milton Fire Department 
* Goal: 25,000 lbs of food in five hours in order to provide for The Salvation Army's Christmas Hampers, as well as restocking the food bank for the next year 
* Items required are non perishable foods (check expiry dates), household cleaning products, toiletries, baby Items  
When: Sat Dec 2, 2017 10 am-12 pm 
Where: Loblaws Superstore, Walmart, Metro, Food Basics, La Rose Italian Bakery, The Food Port, No Frills, Canadian Tire, Sobeys 
* Toy donations can be dropped off during November and December at The Salvation Army Khi Community 100 Nipissing Rd. unit 3  
* Monetary donations may be made at the Christmas Kettles located at: Metro, Walmart, Superstore, LCBO, The Milton Mall, or La Rosa Bakery (Saturday a.m. only)

* program helps ensure that Halton District School Board students-in-need have basic necessities and the opportunity to fully participate in school activities  
* monetary donations provide a young person, family or school with funds in the form of gift cards or cash reimbursement to fulfill a student’s needs for food, clothing and more
