Description (Service) | Services altered in response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) * For further information please visit website ------------------------------------------ Snow Clearing: * Regional, arterial and collector roads sanded or salted first followed by secondary roads * snow clearing beings once 2 cm of snow has accumulated on primary roads * plowing on residential streets begins after 10 cm of accumulation Designated Sidewalk Routes * cleared only after snow accumulates in excess of five cm and roads have been cleared * sidewalks associated with schools, transit routes and major pedestrian travel are cleared in priority sequence How residents can help: * remove snow from fire hydrants and drainage catch basins near your property * pile snow on the right side of your driveway facing the road when shoveling - this helps minimize the ridge of snow created by the snowplow at the end of your driveway * remove plowed snow at the end of your driveway - snowplow operators must push snow to the curb or shoulder, possibly covering recently shoveled driveways * decorative items that touch sidewalks and curbs should be flush with the ground and 300 cm (12") from the edge of the curb or sidewalk * park vehicles off the street during snow clearing * obey parking maximums on town streets between 2 am and 6 am (Parking Bylaw #1984-1) * shovel snow onto lawns and not onto the road when clearing driveways and sidewalks (Obstruct Highways By-Law #115-2205) |
