Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Provides specialized inpatient and outpatient cancer care and support services including:
  • Surgical Oncology Clinics
  • Radiation Oncology
  • Chemotherapy
  • Oncology and Palliative Care (Inpatient Units)
  • Psychosocial Oncology and Supportive Care
  • Diagnostic Assessment Clinic for suspected Lung/Thoracic, Breast, Hepato-Pancreatic Biliary and Rectal Cancers, and a Diagnostic Assessment Clinic for patients in the post-diagnostic stage of their prostate cancer
  • Integrated Cancer Screening Program

Patients are admitted to the unit for medical reasons like stroke (CVA), pneumonia or, for the treatment, management, and care related to cancer diagnosis * the unit provides patients and families with care within an environment that encourages patient/family involvement with the development of the care plan * health care team meets on a regular basis to review and continue to develop the plan of care as needs change * literature is available on a variety of issues and can be obtained from the Oncology Information Centre on the unit

Palliative care - therapists comfort and support individuals and families who are living with a terminal illness * patients may be admitted to the palliative care unit from home or hospital
Hours Visiting hours: oncology care - daily 11am-8:30pm * palliative care - no limitation or restrictions on visitation
