Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Ten weeks sessions in the winter, spring and fall * offered in close cooperation with the Department of Recreation and Culture of the Town of Oakville, and the Rehabilitation Department of OTMH * designed to help survivors overcome the aftermath of a stroke by revitalizing their sense of independence, mobility and overall well-being * participants and volunteers meet at Glen Abbey Community Centre on a Friday, between 9:30am and 2pm

Activities include:
  • pool activities (light aquatic and seated exercise with the assistance of pool volunteers for survivors of stroke)
  • card and Wii games
  • stretching exercises
  • arts and crafts
  • other leisure activities and social times
  • special presentations
  • annual Christmas luncheon and outings including bowling, pub lunches and theatre shows

Eligibility Stroke survivors over 21 years of age with physician's consent
* must be able to perform basic self care needs alone (or with minimal assistance)
* must provide own transportation
