| Description | Safe emergency shelter for abused women over the age of 16, with or without children, operating Mon-Sun 24 hours * provides all meals, emergency clothing and personal needs * free emergency transportation by taxi for abused women and their children Programs include: Womens Centre of Hamilton Flamborough Women's Resource Centre Counselling services for residents: one-to-one and group counselling with follow-up support for past residents Counselling services for women living in the community on a one-to-one basis Child and Youth program: both in-house recreational and therapeutic intervention for child witnesses of domestic violence against women, including group programs Jared's Place for residents and women living in the community * provides information and support on criminal law, family law, immigration law, police, legal aid and finding a lawyer Transitional Support Program for women living in the community * provides assistance to women and their children in identifying and connecting with the kinds of support and services required to establish violence and abuse-free lives Information and advocacy on legal rights, employment, housing and education * cultural interpretation available Referral service to community supports and agencies Speakers to schools, professional agencies, inter-faith communities and community groups on the topic of violence against women * call the office to make arrangements In-service training for professionals All services are confidential and provided at no cost | ||
