Description (Service) Animal control function of the City of Burlington * dedicated to cultivating a community of responsible pet owners and ensuring that Burlington is safe for residents and animals 
Deals with:  
* complaints about stray animals  
* animals in distress  
* animal quarantine  
* rabid animal calls  
* bite reports  
* bylaw enforcement involving noise/barking complaints  
* exotic animals  
* vicious dogs  
* pet identification including microchipping cats  
* dog licences (for more information see below) 
* lost and found services  
* pet adoption  
* euthanasia and cremation services for pets  
* educational services including facility tours  
* pet education seminars  
* supplying pamphlets on wild animals including coyotes, foxes, and pigeons 
Removal of pests and nuisance animals 
Animal Control at the Burlington Animal Shelter removes only dead, diseased or injured animals and only from outdoor locations * for more information on removal of pests and nuisance, see separate listing for Animal Control, Pest Control and Nuisance Animals here 
Dog licences 
* Dogs must be registered within 30 days of purchase or of moving to Burlington.  
* must be renewed every 12 months  
* can also be purchased at City Hall, the Animal Shelter or online

Animals at the shelter which are available for adoption may be viewed on the Petfinder website here
