Description and Service Details
Description (Service) 6-week intensive group program that serves as a step-down or alternative to inpatient admission * the focus is on crisis management, symptom stabilization, education, group and individual counselling and the coordination of resources for follow-up after discharge * education based groups focus on learning new coping skills, self-reliance and personal growth

Services include:
  • psychiatric assessment and treatment
  • supportive therapy
  • group-based education and skill building related to stress management, coping, communication, and managing illness
  • family education
Hours The program area is open from 8am-4pm and staff are available during those hours for assistance
The core group program: Mon-Thu 9am–2pm * Fri 9am-12noon

Eligibility People 18 years and older living in Halton and diagnosed with mental illness and who require intensive supports to prevent hospitalization or facilitate transition to the community
