| Description (Service) | Provides opportunities to coaches, athletes, parents, and organizations to enhance the sporting experience in Burlington * volunteers interested in preserving sport history assist in organizing special events (Recognition Awards Dinner and Sports Week) * supports the values and principles of True Sport and ParticipACTION Projects include: Annual Sport Recognition and Awards Dinner * Burlington Sports Week and Sports Day in Canada, Burlington * a long-term project is to increase the size of the permanent Burlington Sports Hall of Fame Recognition Awards (displayed in the Haber Recreation Centre on Dundas St) include: A.J. Dunn Award for Sport Person of the Year * Burlington Athletes of the Year (female and male winners in six categories: Junior Athlete, Athlete, Master Athlete, High School, Special Olympics, and Parasport Athlete) * Official of the Year * Volunteer Sport Builder * Champion of Sport (a coaching award) * Burlington Team of the Year * see website for nomination forms |
