Assisting staff to serve the clients of the Adult Day Program their lunch Monday-Friday (3 days a week )
Meals of Hope has opportunities for volunteers to work as dishwashers on Saturdays. Using a commercial dishwasher, volunteers work in teams of two (2) on Saturdays from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
This is a physical role and volunteers need to be able to lift, stand, and move dishes through the process during each shift.
- Seeking a volunteer aged 18+ who can help us transport donated food items from donor locations to KSM. Volunteers can use their own large vehicle or utilize the KSM van (if criteria is met).
- Shifts are weekly on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays between 12 and 230pm. Suitable for volunteers who have a clean driving record and can lift up to 50 pounds.
Packing and sorting fresh food into crates that will be distributed to our community partners and neighbours in need. Some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) required; participating in a temperature controlled Pack Room. Closed-toe shoes required.

Checkout (18+)/Check-out Assistant: Assisting neighbours with the checkout process after their shop
Greeter (18+): Welcoming neighbors to the market, checking them in for their appointment. Assisting new neighbours signing up for their FFL membership
Meat/Cake Counter: Helping neighbours with their selection of meats and baked goods
*Some positions require volunteers to be 18 years or older
Shift times are:
Tuesdays & Thursdays - 9:30am-12:30pm, 12:45-4:00pm; 4:00-6:30pm

- Keeps a record of names and addresses of clients to be transported to the selected location. The Coordinator will call to provide this list before the event.

Transports clients in your own vehicle, escorting the client from their door into the vehicle, and helps as necessary. Transports client’s home after the event, escorting the client to their door as necessary.

Drive to event and dine with clients, (or return at designated time).

Uses sanitization practices such as recommended hand washing and food handling guidelines.

Maintains contact with Coordinator, providing input on client needs or concerns.

Maintains calmness in emergencies, with an ability to assist in a crisis.

- Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s licence and a safe driving record.

Has access to a safe and appropriate vehicle, which is adequately insured with a minimum of 1 million dollars of liability.

Has the physical ability to carry meal bags.

Pick up route list and meals from the office location (Georgetown or Acton).

Using your own vehicle, deliver meals to each client on the route sheet.

Uses sanitization practices such as recommended hand washing and food serving guidelines.

On completion of meal delivery, returns list and meal bags to office.

Reports any unusual client conditions and concerns to Coordinator.

Maintains calmness in emergencies, with an ability to assist in a crisis.

- Pick up groceries from grocery stores and complete the delivery from the list provided by the coordinator.

Communicates with the coordinator about any substitutions that need to be made.

Delivers the groceries to the client’s door.

Maintains communication with the coordinator in the event of any schedule changes.

Completes and submits a monthly volunteer time record.

Maintains calmness in emergencies, with an ability to assist in a crisis.
- Be physically able to lift heavy items such as cases of water, bags of potatoes, and carry shopping bags. Physically able to stand and/or walk for one to two hours at a time.

a) Pick up and deliver meals to clients, including:
• Reporting to the designated depot at the assigned time (Mississauga near Oakville border)
• Picking up route list, and meals, etc.
• Delivering meals to assigned clients, dropping off notices etc. within expected time frames
• Ensuring that meals are received by the client at the time of delivery or following previously made arrangements or procedures
• Talking with the client to observe that they are safe and all is well
• Returning containers and any money collected to the designated depot
• Returning any undelivered meals to the designated depot
b) Maintain confidentiality of route sheets
c) Submission of expense claim form as required
d) Use “MOW” car sign to facilitate parking and to increase community awareness of the program
e) Report to the supervisor any concerns regarding the well-being of the clients
f) Attend in-service training as arranged by the branch, including initial orientation
- Shopping for food for our programs.
- Online ordering of food for our programs.
- Preparing meals and snacks for students to eat; most programs do not involve cooking, but most have some cutting of fresh fruits and vegetables and minimal preparation of other food items.
- Setting up for food service which can include setting up chairs and tables, cleaning the eating and food preparation surfaces and putting out dishes and food.
- Preparing bins with food items to be served.
- Post-program cleanup; this can include doing dishes, putting food away, cleaning tables and putting away chairs.
- Monthly reporting and financial tracking; this involves working with school staff to obtain account balances and submitting totals to HFFT each month.

Neighbourhood Care Network (ongoing, work with individuals or families to identify and access needed resources).*
Grocery Delivery Program (weekly on Wednesday mornings, to an Oakville Halton Community Housing neighbourhood).*
Community BBQ program (Summer only, weekly on Thursday afternoons, at Oakville Halton Community Housing neighbourhood).
Dinner at your Door (Thursday mid day - year round delivering hot prepared meals to home-bound local persons).*
Lyon’s Lane vegetable garden plot (Spring and summer Tuesday mornings - growing and harvesting produce for donation to local food outreach programs).
St. Simon’s and St. Jude’s Pantry program (monthly, prepare and package 60 - 75 individual meals for local meal outreach programs).

To deliver hot and/or frozen meals to individuals in their homes in Oakville on a regular or substitute basis.
Monday to Friday 11:15 am to 1:00 pm (hot meal delivery) or
Wednesdays 9:00 am to 11:00 am (frozen meal delivery)
- To provide great customer service and be a customer ambassador.
- Welcome customers at the main entrance and thank them for supporting your charity and assist with doors
- Provide information on games, programs, and promotions, answer questions etc.
- Circulate in Cabinet Game area ‐ chat with customers when appropriate.
- If requested by the operator ‐ assist with promotions –‐ e.g., handing out ballots, prizes.
- Support approved charity awareness initiatives from your charity ‐ e.g., displays,
brochures, giveaways, or gifts. - May also assist with delivery of food and non‐alcoholic beverages return food trays to
kitchen area, assist with clean‐up (used bingo paper, etc.) – and assist with call-backs of
bingo winners (you will be shown how if this is required).
Volunteers needed daily:
- To assist with answer phone, transfer calls, take messages, as well as answering door, welcoming visitors, escorting visitors to residents rooms
- Taking, coffee, tea, snacks to residents rooms
- Light housekeeping
- Offering support to residents and families
