Communities
Tech savy volunteer to spend time weekly with a male resident with physical and communication barriers. Resident requires asssitance with his technical devices to look things up, communicate with others and for company. Resident has requested an Adult volunteer.
Conduct lessons using course resources provided; small group tutoring for basic computer skills, 8 weeks per session. Communicate with staff and attend mandatory training workshops.
These are introductory-level courses.
Computer Skills for Work 1: Introduction to Windows, Microsoft Word, file management, Internet and email basics, and business communications for the workplace.
Computer Skills for Work 2: Introduction to Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, review of Microsoft Word and file management, and business numeracy for the workplace.
Tutors meet with learners for a minimum of three hours per week. Tutoring schedules depend on volunteer and learner availability. Volunteers are matched with learners based on availability, subject area and location.
The next intake and training session will be in Fall 2024. We will be looking for volunteers in Georgetown, Milton, Oakville and Burlington.
