Driver Volunteer   Halton Hills  Milton
Halton Children's Aid Society, Burlington Office
Milton and Halton Hills
Our Volunteer drivers play an extremely valuable role in the lives of our children in care. As a driver you become a familiar and friendly face the children can depend on, someone who will listen to their stories and bring a smile to their faces at what can be a very confusing time in their lives.

If you have a few hours to spare a week, enjoy driving and love children then this is the volunteer role for you. Volunteer drivers take children and on occasion parents, to various appointments; therapy sessions, family visits, counselling sessions, court dates, support groups, and other important meetings.

Drivers are currently needed during day time hours. Some do a specific drive or two each week, others are called upon on a daily basis and yet others do once a month. We are always in need of reliable, readily available volunteer drivers.

During Stewardship and Monitoring Programs suitable volunteers can act as leaders and/or helpers while they experience opportunities to learn how to ID wildlife, critters and tree species, and monitor tree growth.
Those who step forward to help with gardening learn about water efficiency, and what plants are habitat or food for which wildlife and important insect species. And very importantly, what plants are invaders that overrun our local natural spaces if not kept in check through removal and replacement plantings. Of course the learning occurs while engaged in hands-on projects that may include getting your hands dirty, while digging, planting, weeding, watering. Then, take a walk in the park and watch your work “grow! The Park is a great place to meet others while enjoying the outdoors!
