You should have your Smart Serve Certification before the festival begins. If you do not already have your Smart Serve, please contact us at volunteers@rcbl.org to obtain instructions. 
If serving and/or taking beverage orders, you will verify the age eligibility of each guest ordering alcoholic beverages if they appear under 25. 
You will be provided with a t-shirt to wear during your shift (mandatory). 
You will work as part of a team of three (3) or more, plus Cashiers. 
You may be asked to process transactions on a debit/credit machine, be a server/runner for the cashier(s) for cash transactions, and/or you may be asked to restock the beverage tubs with ice and beverages. 
If assigned to help set-up and stock the beverage tubs, you will be required to lift cases of beer, coolers, water and soda-pop and large bags of ice, so strength and stamina are an asset. 
As a server/runner, you will be required to open beverage cans (tools provided, or bring your own if preferred). 
You will be deployed to one of three (3) tents - East, West or Ribline.  
Training will be provided at the start of the shift by the Tent Captain. 
Shifts are of various lengths with at least one break. Note that the closing shift includes cleanup & put-away after the festival closes for the night.

You will work out of one of many Waste Stations throughout Spencer Smith Park and help us to keep the event green and clean. 
You will be provided with a t-shirt and disposable gloves. 
 
You will work as part of a team of two (2) - one who will pick up debris on the tables and one who will clean (supplies provided) 
 
Preferred minimum age is 13 years, but those younger than 13 may volunteer, provided that they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also volunteering on the Recycling Team.

For Thursday Aug. 29th, you will report to the Supervisor in the large white tent at the West side of the park and then help with setting up the Waste Stations throughout the park. You might also be helping to clean up the park of debris. 
 
For Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, you will report to the Main Waste Recycling Station (see map included with your shift reminder email). If there is nobody there, you'll grab gloves and a blue bin, then start picking up debris off the ground in the park. If a Supervisor is available, they may assign other related tasks. Once all garbage/debris is picked up, all volunteers will help with sorting. 
 
All shifts last 4 hours with a short break about mid-way. Water and some snacks will be provided during each shift.

For Wednesday August 28th and Thursday August 29th, you will report to the Team Leader in the Volunteer Tent to receive instructions and then help with mounting the rest of the signs in the park. You will be given a t-shirt to wear (mandatory) and supplied with gloves and tools to use. The Team Leader will deliver sets/stacks of signs to various locations to which the members of the team will be deployed. Some larger signs will require 2 people to handle. If a ladder must be used to gain access to the mounting height, a 2-person team is mandatory for safety reasons. 
NOTE: It is preferable to have the same crew on Thursday to complete the signage erection and again on Monday evening for the take-down, but this is not mandatory. 
 
For Monday September 2nd, you will report to the West Volunteer Tent for check-in and deployment. If this is your first shift, you will be given a t-shirt to wear (mandatory) and supplied with gloves and tools to use. The primary task is to take the signs down while preserving them to be used the following year. It is important to take care when removing the signs so that they are not damaged. The signs will be stacked neatly in the area where they were erected and the Team Leader will come to collect them with a golf cart. You may be asked to help clean the signs before they are put away in the Rotary Ribfest trailer. Depending on various factors, this task may be completed before 9:00 pm, but volunteers will receive credit for the full shift even if they are dismissed before the 9:00 pm scheduled finish time.
