Therapy Dog Member [ More Info ]    
Handlers and their canines make weekly visits to long term care facilities in Milton, Oakville & Halton Hills. There is a short training/evaluation process including a minimum of 10 visits. Canines must be at least 1 year old. Volunteer hours are flexible to your schedule. Handlers must be 18 or 16 and accompanied by an adult. Handlers must commit to 60 hours per year.

Labour Day Oakville Half Marathon event volunteer [ More Info ]   
The event requires many volunteers to work in many different areas during the race and throughout the Race Weekend (September 5th and 6th). These areas include: registration, start/finish area, recovery area, course marshals, bag check, post race food, water/aid stations, help with handing our medals at the finish, assist with food distribution and more.  
 
GROUPS… If you have a group of 10 or more and are able to assist with an aid station, cheering station, race kit stuffing and other areas please contact us directly at 905-949-1910 ext. 221. ‘Cheering Stations’ will be located between aid stations so if you have a group with lots of spirit and energy that want to be an official ‘Cheering Station’, let us know. Groups can include friends or family, a team, a cheerleading squad, a group of office friends, etc.

Spend time with a child aged 6 to 12 years, participating in fun & recreational activities. The goal is to develop social skills & self esteem and to be a positive role model.

The Homework Club Study Mentor or Supervisor [ More Info ]    
High school students or adult volunteers will mentor a child in a local elementary school, after school, on a one-to-one basis. Involves assisting a child in grade 3-8 with their homework, playing educational games, developing organizational skills. Adult volunteers may become Homework Club Supervisors at the site, charged with supervising the group of 16 students and 16 mentors. Involves providing direction to the group and administrative duties to ensure smooth functioning of the Homework Club.

Special Steps Volunteer [ More Info ]     
To provide companionship, emotional and social stimulation in the form of a home visit, outing/drive or a walk with clients who are experiencing memory loss. In home regular visits weekly, biweekly or bimonthly for as little as 1 hour. Volunteer could also provide some caregiver relief to spouse or family member. 
Volunteers are often matched with seniors with similar interests and volunteer can dictate level of comfort with suggested client match (type of client and frequency of visits). 
Duties are in volunteers' own community.
