Enrolling volunteers for the 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR in Oakville and Milton. At this time we are not offering a Burlington location for the 2024-25 school year, please check back closer to Fall 2024.

Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year ramps up in April/May 2024 and continues all through the end of the school year and into the summer months. Spots are usually (almost) full by the time school starts up in September.

High school students will mentor a child once a week after school in a one-to-one relationship, with an elementary school student. Involves assisting a child in grades 3-8 with their homework, playing educational games, and developing organizational skills. Homework Club takes place at a number of elementary schools across the Halton region. For the 2024-25 school year, Homework Club will only run in-person (we will no longer offer virtual spots).

Please only apply if you are interested in mentoring IN PERSON at a specific school (in Oakville or Milton).

By sharing ideas, resources, successes and by working together on school and community eco-projects, we can have a greater impact with a louder voice. After all, it is OUR collective future. 

Join us monthly as we learn about eco-issues and campaigns, plan educational / empowering eco-action activities for the community, discuss the latest eco-news, and connect with like-minded people. Everyone within the age range is welcome! 

We offer a mix of in-person events as well as the opportunity to volunteer online through our Social Media Subcommittee. 

Outdoor events occur on different days of the week and could be anything from hikes, litter clean-ups, plantings, invasive plant removals, event greening, and opportunities to connect and care for nature. Watch our Instagram for updates or contact us to join our Youth Network mailing list.

Drop in online meetings are once a month throughout the winter months IDecember to March), usually on a Monday @ 4:30 pm. Message us on Instagram or send an email for the meeting link.

Note: Our Social Media Subcommittee develops content for  BurlingtonGreen’s social platforms. Opportunities include graphic design, writing and research.

We need volunteers in our Milton location for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Shifts are 10 am-12:30 or 12:30 to 3 pm. 

If you would like to help other women through difficult times, we will provide the training and support so that you can truly make a difference!  

Peer Supporter Volunteers provide clients with a safe, supportive environment in which they can explore their options and receive the information and support they need to make positive changes in their lives.

Prime Earth, Youth Empowerment & Environmental Conservation Organization

For the last 18 years, Sahaja Yoga Meditation Network has been offering free meditation classes in the Halton region and beyond. We have had the joy of touching individuals and families across Halton by offering thousands of self-realization and meditation workshops in community centers, corporations, small businesses, senior homes, schools, and youth support organizations. 

We are looking for volunteers to help grow our social media presence, as well to spread and strengthen our outreach in the community. 

Network Expansion: Actively reaching out to organizations and individuals to expand our non-profit's presence and build strategic partnerships (strategy and approach will be provided and will be a collaborative exercise with the other team members).

Help reduce pain, stress, and anxiety for people with life-limiting illnesses, dementia, or caregivers experiencing high stress. Help improve a client's quality of life and well-being through the use of Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, or Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT). If you are trained in any of these modalities, can do in-person, virtual Zoom distance Reiki, or use our Reiki room based at our head office in Oakville to help clients, and have an hour or more to spare per week, then we would love to have you volunteer for us!

- Complete SAVIS crisis line training and evaluation

Re-Imagine Ontario is a registered charitable organization whose mission is to improve the health, education and employment of vulnerable people, with a particular focus on Black and Indigenous populations, by fostering strong community support networks. We offer youth and seniors support programs in mental health and education/mentoring.

The Role:

Re-Imagine Ontario is seeking a very strong candidate to help us expand our efforts across Halton-Peel, by creating and developing our presence on Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/TikTok/ Blogging and others. This is an opportunity to use your social media savvy to help a small organization grow and to gain valuable experience as well.

What you will be responsible for:

·         Create and post engaging content for our audience through social posts, imagery, and others.

·         Working with our team to create and maintain a social media programming calendar.

·         Help to develop, execute, and optimize online campaigns when required.

·         Weekly monitoring and interacting with our audience on your assigned social channels.

·         Actively monitor, analyze, and report on social performance.

·         Research: stay up to date on changing tools in digital and social media, including but not limited to measurement and analytic tools, industry and global trends, competitor tracking daily.

·         Work with marketing to plan and implement digital marketing campaigns.

What You’ll Bring: 

·         A degree, college diploma or equivalent certification or commensurate experience in social media, graphic                 design, digital marketing communications, or a related subject area.

·         Minimum 2 years of work experience in social media, content creation, digital marketing.

·         Proficient in various applications like Canva, Microsoft Office 365 and others.

·         Experience writing copy, captions, design, and video editing skills is an asset.

·         Creativity and consistency and a willingness to learn.

·         Sound judgment and resourcefulness to solve problems independently.

·         Stay up to date with new & upcoming marketing rules, regulations, trends, tools, and applications.

·         Ability to identify and communicate issues when they arise.

If you are creative, organized and have social media skills, this would be a great role for you! The work is entirely virtual, and anticipated workload is approx. 2-3hrs/week. While not mandatory, providing a sample of your work would be an asset.

The Volunteer Friendly Visiting Ambassador duties include making contact with an isolated senior for at least 1 hour weekly. This includes contact by phone, Zoom or in-person and include conversations and social activities, and may assist with basic support as companionship to seniors.
