Special Steps/Friendly Visiting Oakville or BurlingtonAcclaim Health, Oakville - Speers Rd - Main Office   Visit once every week for 1-3 hours. Volunteers are needed to provide in home visits or to take clients out for short walks or drives to the mall, lakeshore, driving range, RBG/areas of interest, go shopping or have a coffee (you decide). Clients often have various challenges which cause social isolation and may include physical limitations or memory impairments – but matches are based on previous experience, area of interest and comfort level. Ongoing support from a supervisor is always available but this is an independent position. 
 
Exercise Program is for balance challenged Seniors living in Burlington. Volunteers will be trained in a free half day training session and certified with the CCAA. Time commitment after training is 1 hr per week for 12 wk cycles with one client. One year commitment is required for free training.

Family/Peer VolunteersDarling Home for Kids1) Family Volunteer 
The Family Volunteer works alongside the professional care team and provides companionship to enhance the quality of life for the child during their stay at The Darling Home for Kids. The family volunteers are with the children at the bedside, during activities, within the Snoezelen area, enjoying arts and crafts, on outings within the community, and generally are there to support the child and family with whatever activities they are doing. Family volunteers must be at least 20 years of age.  
2) Peer Volunteer 
The Peer Volunteer supports the Family Volunteers and the professional care team. Peer Volunteers are between the ages of 14-19 years old. The peer volunteer will be a friend to the children by playing with the child, enjoying arts and crafts, playing video games, interacting with the child on a companion to companion basis.
