Family/Peer VolunteersDarling Home for Kids1) Family Volunteer 
The Family Volunteer works alongside the professional care team and provides companionship to enhance the quality of life for the child during their stay at The Darling Home for Kids. The family volunteers are with the children at the bedside, during activities, within the Snoezelen area, enjoying arts and crafts, on outings within the community, and generally are there to support the child and family with whatever activities they are doing. Family volunteers must be at least 20 years of age.  
2) Peer Volunteer 
The Peer Volunteer supports the Family Volunteers and the professional care team. Peer Volunteers are between the ages of 14-19 years old. The peer volunteer will be a friend to the children by playing with the child, enjoying arts and crafts, playing video games, interacting with the child on a companion to companion basis.

Communication VolunteerHalton Aphasia Centre, Mailing Address Under the guidance of the Speech Language Pathologist, the communication volunteer will learn new skills to: 
*work with small groups of people with aphasia 
*help facilitate or create conditions for conversation and discussion to occur 
*encourage the exchange of ideas and opinions among aphasic and non-aphasic members  
*bring forth thoughts and new ideas to the group 
 
Other responsibilities may include: 
*setting-up materials prior to start of the group as well as assisting in minor clean-up following the session 
*informing the SLP in advance when unable to attend a session 
*maintaining confidential all information obtained from contact with members of the HAC
