Board MemberHalton Food for Thought, School Nutrition Programs  Board Members are responsible for governance and strategy for Halton Food for Thought (HFFT) and will support the agency in achieving its mission and vision. HFFT's Board is a governance board that works in collaboration with the Executive Director to build policy and strategy for the agency.  
Members meet bi-monthly for full board meetings (the last Friday of the month at 8:00 am) and monthly for sub-committee meetings. Food for Life VolunteerHalton Children's Aid Society, BurlingtonThis is one of the most vital roles we have at the Halton Children’s Aid. Once a week, the Food for Life organization provides food which we then distribute to families associated with our organization and identified as being “a family in need”.  
Volunteers are required to sort the food into individual grocery bags and then deliver the food directly to the families. The volunteer could choose to do either the bagging or the delivery, or both. The time commitment is once a week, every Thursday in Acton. Confidentiality and commitment is of the utmost importance since these families rely on this service to help feed their children.

January through May is our official POSSE outreach trainings where we cover such topics as racism, sexism, sexual assault, homelessness, homophobia, harm reduction, sexual health, anti-oppression etc... Reps from various social service agencies come in and engage the youth in discussion around the issues but also let us know about what services are available in the community. Youth are encouraged to get involved in the discussions but are welcome to listen only.  
The youth who have been through trainings are out in the community from June through September handing out harm reduction supplies, resource and referral information connecting with youth in their community. 
From October to December we begin meeting again and these trainings are a little more informal, and open to what youth want to do. Sometimes we have doc/talk nights where we watch a documentary and have a discussion. We have done resume building/ interview skills, yoga, improv, starting a social movement, self-defense. 
 
This is an opportunity to come to POSSE trainings, get your volunteer hours for school, and potentially apply for one of the paid positions for which you will receive honoraria for all training and outreach work.
