The Burlington Symphony Orchestra (BSO) Board of Directors is actively recruiting dynamic community members who are passionate about supporting the arts. Our team of dedicated volunteer Directors works together to support interesting, exciting orchestral and small ensemble performances that engage and inspire large and diverse audiences in the local area.

To complement the existing slate of Directors, the BSO is looking for individuals with experience in donor relations and fundraising. Previous governance experience is an asset.

The Board meets virtually on the third Wednesday of every month from 7-9 pm. Directors are encouraged to attend BSO concerts whenever possible.

  • Actively participates in all monthly FOL Committee meetings, whether conducted virtually or in person 
  • Assumes the leadership role in FOL fundraising activities, including book sales, pop-ups, and book donation events
  • Leads and guides a team of volunteers, with valuable support from the Chair and the committee. This includes creating volunteer schedules and providing orientations for book sales
  • Provides support to all Shift Leaders during book sales
  • Collaborates with the Chair and FOL Committee to compile reports on fundraising results, along with valuable recommendations, to OPL
  • Proactively seeks methods to enhance the efficiency and success of book sales, offering recommendations and updating work plans for fundraising initiatives, thus contributing to the planning of future events

  • Establishes the monthly meeting schedule and chairs the meeting, whether conducted virtually or in-person
  • Collaborates with the secretary to set the agenda for all scheduled meetings, preparing and distributing meeting minutes and agendas incorporating input from the committee and OPL Management
  • Provides guidance and support to committee leads to ensure the successful planning and execution of fundraising activities
  • Takes an active leadership role in recruiting committee members, including the Chair, and identifying suitable committee leads
  • Offers support to the Book Sale Lead, Communications Lead, and Sorting Room Lead within the committee
  • Collaborates closely with the Book Sale Lead to plan and run book sales, volunteers and other pop-up fundraising activities
  • Compiles reports on fundraising results and offers recommendations to the Manager, Community Development & Engagement for consideration
  • Contributes content for promotion in the OPL Newsletter and Social Media platforms
  • Represents FOL within the community and with OPL staff
  • May assume additional responsibilities as needed, based on individual capabilities and capacity

Darling Home for Kids

The Development Committee is a group of individuals who support the mission and growth of The Cedarbrook Society. The committee is established by and responsible to the Board of Directors to recommend, advise and support the fundraising activities of the organization, and will serve to enhance the credibility and awareness of The Darling Home for Kids to a new and growing audience of potential supporters and donors.

Bronte Historical Society

This position requires you to be a member of our Board of Directors.

The Membership Director will fascilitate Membership Drives. You would contact members in January and throughout the year, to remind members that their membership is due and how they can pay. You may be asked to deposit membership cheques and keep in close contact with out Treasurer, so that there is consistent transfer of information. You will be asked to keep up to date records of Member's contact information and if/how they may be interested in helping our Society.

- Support the vision, mission and goals of HBFI  
- Attend monthly in person or virtual meetings as able  
- Participate in meetings and workgroups as able (workgroups may be related to social media, printed resources, planning and hosting events, celebrating Canadian or World Breastfeeding Week, etc.)

Our volunteer board of directors meets monthly in Georgetown or Acton (Halton Hills), with additional meetings as deemed necessary for committees and project-oriented activities. Participation at meetings is in-person or through online conferencing when appropriate. Responsibilities of Directors include attending monthly meetings well-prepared to discuss agenda items that are meant to facilitate board decisions about the organization and its operations. Directors are asked to devote an average of 4-8 hours per month to respond to communication, participate at in-park events, participate in the activities of at least one subcommittee and actively extend help to other Directors as and when needed.
