Duties

Role

To assist in the organization and/or implementation of events at your high school and/or offsite locations (as approved) to help promote Milton Transit to youth.

Time Commitment

  • One (1) monthly meeting between October - June (subject to change); approximately
    one (1) hour per meeting
  • Project-based, based on Supervisor approval

Responsibilities

  • Promptly log hours after each shift to volunteer profile, for Supervisor review
    and approval
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Self-create opportunities to promote the use of Milton Transit to your student peers, as approved by Supervisor
  • Educate youth about Milton Transit information points (for example online resources, ticket agents, trip planners)
  • Share insights with Milton Transit to help generate ridership and to improve customer experience for the Milton public
  • Distribute Milton Transit swag and informational material 
  • Occasionally distribute and collect surveys and feedback forms digitally (according to Town of Milton confidentiality standards)
  • Setting-up and taking down materials
  • Comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the programming, standard operating guidelines as per the Corporate Volunteer Orientation and Training (i.e. lifting etc.)
  • Report any incidents, concerns or site damage to Supervisor
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training functions

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be 15 years of age or older* and actively attending either Milton District High School or Bishop PF Reding Secondary School. 
    • * Note: Volunteers (age 15-17 years) may occasionally be asked to optionally support events at non-school/offsite locations. Volunteers that are interested in supporting optional non-school/offsite events will require accompaniment by an adult age 18+ years (who is either a Town of Milton staff member or a parent/guardian who must also register and be trained as a Town of Milton volunteer).
  • Must meet requirements of the Town of Milton volunteer program
  • Organized
  • Punctual, consistent and reliable

  • Willing to take direction
  • Knowledge of Milton Transit, an asset

Dress

  • To ensure clarity of public perception, volunteer ambassadors of Milton Transit/Town of Milton, must wear assigned Town clothing/accessories, with all other clothing elements neutral and not aligned with other programs/organizations
  • Volunteer must wear closed-toe shoes (comfortable shoes/running shoes)
  • Volunteers are to bring and wear weather-related items: e.g. sunscreen, hat, rain gear, reusable water bottle (as applicable)
