Duties

Carey House is located in Burlington, minutes from the downtown core and offers 24-hour attendant care to a small group of individuals with physical disabilities in a congregate residential setting. 

We are seeking individuals or small groups with interest in supporting social engagement and interactions with clients in our Carey House location. Work with clients and/or staff to plan for a weekly activity - opportunities are endless for what you can do. Play card games? Board games? Plan a trivia night? Run an art program? Bingo tournament? Themed party? Coffee Social? 

No prior experiences or specific skills are required - simply a willingness to engage our clients, support programs and activities and be part of making life a little more fun!   

Benefits Gain experience working with adults with disabilities, physical or cognitive impairments, provide hands-on support to assist a client who lives in a shared housing environment, support the goals of individuals to increase social engagement, learn about recreation therapy and its benefits, ongoing support and recognition from the agency, documentation for hours of service provided, reimbursement for police records check after required hours of service, letter of recommendation considered for exceptional volunteers after completing 40hrs of service.

Commitment Length Medium Term (4 months to 1 year) ; Long Term ; We request a minimum of a 40hr commitment to support continuity for clients.
Interaction Level One-on-one ; Small Group ; Staff is onsite and available for support at all times.
Minimum Hours 2 / Week
Seasons Year Round ; Flexible schedule - programs can be run on weekdays, evenings, and weekends to suit your schedule
