Duties | About The New Mentality: The New Mentality is a network of youth facilitated groups across Ontario that partner with children and youth mental health agencies in their communities. The goals are to raise awareness about mental health and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. ROCK- Reach out Centre for Kids, is the host agency for the Halton New Mentality Chapter. The group consists of dedicated youth and adult allies who work together on projects to promote meaningful engagement by empowering youth to concentrate on the work that they are most passionate about. At The New Mentality, we work to amplify youth voice in order to influence change in the mental health system and beyond. Key Responsibilities: · To attend monthly meetings, in order to plan and work collaboratively on an annual anti-stigma project · To actively participate in the development and implementation of a group project in a way that is meaningful and aligns with the objectives of The New Mentality · To have a basic understanding of canva and social media tools which can be used to promote project work and The New Mentality objectives within the community (creating flyers which can be shared within the community, using social media as a platform to advertise TNM events and projects) · To demonstrate work that is inclusive, respectful and empowering · To partake in activities such as TNM events and /or training opportunities, throughout the yearly commitment. These training opportunities aim to train and educate volunteers in matters related to mental health. Requirements: · Position is suitable for youth between the ages of 12-18 (high school students · A police check is required for anyone 18 years of age or older · It is required that volunteers are able to seek their own transportation for any in person meetings that may be scheduled |
