Description (Service) Health and Social Service not-for-profit and charitable agency that provides a variety of services for the South Asian community including:

Seniors and high risk seniors services (to assist in aging at home)
Health promotion (diabetes education, tobacco prevention, healthy eating, cancer, etc)
Domestic violence support and assistance
Women's and men's group programs
Group programs for youth and children
Parenting programs
Food bank services for abused women
Translation services
Resource development
Diversity training

Better Families Program:: to engage youth (13 to 24 years of age) and parents to help address issues related to healthy interactions between families and communities through support, group programs, mentoring programs, and referral to appropriate external agencies

Mental Health Program: provides assistance and support to clients who are dealing with problems associated with mental illness * the program uses a holistic approach by providing counselling services to individuals and family members

South Asia Addictions Program: strives to improve the quality of life by supporting clients and their families through a guided journey to recovery from substance use/abuse in a holistic and culturally appropriate manner

IST Program: a partnership project of Punjabi Community Health Services, Peel Senior Link and Supportive Housing In Peel * this program provides support to seniors in need of help. An individual care plan is designed to allow the seniors to remain independent and live at home

Community Development and Social Enterprise: this project was created to promote greater civic engagement and community development in Malton by empowering adult and youth leadership in the South Asian Community with the aim of developing and strengthening new and existing formal and informal community networks * the Malton Community Building Project focuses on community engagement, collaboration, parent education, health, literacy, recreation, support, training and sustainability * “South Asian Community” refers to people from the Indian sub-continent and from the South Asian Diaspora

Volunteers and Student Placements: provides opportunities to community members to participate in helping the South Asian Community * the Volunteer Program is designed to provide opportunity to new immigrants, students and those who want to contribute back to the community * provides reference letters for those who have volunteered with PCHS

Assistance in filling out forms for your PR card, citizenship, pensions, passport, health card, child tax benefit, family sponsorship, visitor vista, etc

Referrals regarding government services including social assistance and Ontario Disability Support Program, health, childcare, and Senior benefits
Orientation information sessions and attestation of documents

SAHARA Family Enhancement Program: The Family Enhancement Program provides one to one counselling, mentoring and in group sessions to families with member experiencing addiction, violence or mental health issues * these are high need and high service recipient families * mentorships allow experienced women and youth to mentor women and youth who are still in situations that are problematic * youth are engaged in one to one and group programming * the entire family is helped * men are helped as well including seniors in the family

Meetings * Parenting Programs first Sunday of the month from 2 pm-4 pm and every other Monday of the month from 6 pm-8 pm at 2980 Drew Road, Unit # 241 Malton  
* Women's Group last Sunday of every month from 1 pm-4 pm at 2980 Drew Road, Unit # 241 Malton  
* Men's Group Sat 9:30 am-12:30 pm at 135 McLaughlin Road South, Brampton
