Description (Service) | Oversees the administration of the Firearms Act * the Act requires all firearm owners to hold a valid firearms licence and restricted and prohibited firearms to be registered * licence applicants must meet safety-training requirements and pass security screening to ensure they do not pose a safety threat to themselves or others Provides direct operational and technical firearms-related support to law enforcement across Canada * supports front line police agencies in gathering evidence, as well as investigating and prosecuting persons or organizations involved in the illegal movement and criminal use of firearms |
