Description and Service Details
Description (Service) A program that helps newcomers adjust to Canada by enabling them to integrate through friendship and build their cultural identity through open and safe interaction.  
Offers opportunities to participate in programming: 
* to gain information on available services 
* enhance language skills 
* participate in group activities  
* develop connections within their community  
* learn about Canadian culture 
Activities include: 
* RAY Award 
* extra English support 
* music, drama and arts activities 
* tutoring & homework help 
* volunteer & student job assistance 
* in-school Youth Mentor programs 
Social Network Development 
A new initiative made specifically for refugees.  
Socializing Around Language Practice -English Conversation Circle: 
* conducted in an informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere 
* focuses on vocabulary building through informal conversation on a variety of subjects 
* increases each client’s comfort level when using English 
Activities include: 
* welcoming, orientation - mentoring  
* recreational/hobby groups - craft group, Meet and Greet 
* learning about Canada Meet and Greet 
* field trips and day trips 
* identifying skills required by the job market in Canada 
Community Connections mentoring program  
Focuses on the social and professional integration of newcomers and refugees to Canada by:  
* establishing social and professional networks  
* learning about Canadian culture, connecting with social and geographic surroundings  
* identifying skills required by the job market 
* practicing self-marketing techniques and confidence building  
* understanding the Canadian workplace culture
Hours Mon,Tue, Wed, Fri 9 am-4:30 pm * Thu 9 am-8 pm
