Description and Service Details
Description (Service) The Provincial Offences Act (POA) governs how charges are processed and prosecuted. It applies to all provincial statutes as well as municipal by-laws and some minor federal contraventions. 
 
Accessible Permits: 
* are controlled and issued by the Ministry of Transportation for either temporary or permanent purposes 
* applications can be downloaded or are available through the ServiceOntario locations at 125 Cross Ave in the Trafalgar Village plaza or at Dorval Crossing at 220 North Service Road W 
* accommodation for parking with Accessible Permits is made in areas of paid parking by offering designated permit only spaces 
* payment is still required while parking at these spaces with an Accessible Permit 
 
Parking fine inquiries and payments and parking permits: 
* parking tickets can be paid online at above website, by mail or in person 
* methods of payment: cash, cheque, Interac, VISA and MasterCard 
 
Administrative Penalty System (APS): 
* the Town handles parking ticket disputes instead of the provincial courts 
* anyone getting a parking ticket can either pay it within 15 days or schedule a meeting with a screening officer to review it 
* an additional administrative charge will be applied if the ticket is not paid or a meeting is not scheduled within the 15 days 
 
Parking Operations is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Town municipal parking lots, on-street parking meters, pay and display machines and the municipal parking garage at 300 Church Street.  
 
Downtown districts monthly parking: 
* there are some locations in the downtown districts that have monthly permit parking 
* many of these locations have a waiting list, with varying wait times depending on the location

Temporary On-street Parking permits: 
* are available at this office for occasions such as: paving or repairs to driveways, home renovations, or for visitor/guest parking when parking requirements temporarily exceed the parking provisions  
* to allow parking on the street for longer than three hours and/or between 2 and 6 a.m.  
* register on-line at parking.oakville.ca 
* NOTE: each passenger vehicle is permitted 15 days of temporary on-street parking per calendar year, please refer to terms and conditions  
 
Multiple Vehicle On-street Parking Permits: 
* allow residents to park more than five vehicles on the street for longer than three hours and/or between 2 am and 6 am 
* permits are for passenger vehicles only and requests must be submitted five business days in advance of when they are needed 
* visit the website to apply online 
 
Veterans Parking permits:  
* for Oakville residents who are veterans  
* provide free on-street metered parking and at municipal surface lots, subject to the designated time restrictions 
* to apply, download and complete the Veterans Parking permit application form available online and return to the Parking Operations office at the Oakville Town Hall
