Description and Service Details
Description (Service) The program includes individual and family counselling for women and their children who have experienced any kind of abuse including physical, sexual, emotional, or financial abuse.  
 
Women receive support, counselling and education with a focus on: 
* why abuse happens 
* defining abusive behaviours 
* developing safety plans 
* the impact of family violence on children 
* making choices for the future 
* individual counselling for female survivors of sexual abuse is also available 
* violence may have occurred in heterosexual relationships or same sex relationships 
 
Group programs: 
Safety Zone 
* for women and their children to discuss the impact of abuse in the family 
* children have the opportunity to talk with other children 
* the women focus on reducing the negative impact of family violence on their children 
 
Healing Hearts Group (offered when numbers of registrants permit) 
* an advanced group for women who have been physically, sexually or emotionally abused and are no longer in the abusive situation 
* with the support of other survivors, women will learn: to care for themselves * to be assertive * about healthy relationships and healthy sexuality * to be in charge of their lives
