Description (Agency) The Ministry of Children and Youth Services provides funding for child welfare, family intervention services, children's community support services, children's mental health services, as well as youth justice services.

Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Five regional offices are responsible for the direct delivery of some ministry programs, and provide a management role for those services delivered locally by municipalities and transfer payment agencies.  
Child Protection: 
* services are provided by children's aid societies and governed by the Child and Family Services Act 
Best Start:  
Services focus on: 
* early learning and child care services  
* healthy growth and development during a child's first years  
* ages birth to six 
Prevention and Early Intervention Supports: 
* services for children with developmental disabilities and special needs 
Program Review and Compliance:  
* inspect and license all children's residential programs operating in accordance with the Child and Family Services Act  
Works with community agencies, police and school boards to develop more services and programs for youth in under-serviced areas within a five-part strategy:  
* Summer Jobs for Youth Program 
* Youth in Policing Initiative 
* Youth Outreach Worker Program 
* School-based Prevention/Diversion Program 
* for young people where they can find information about programs and resources  
* Youth Justice Services 
* Ontario Child Benefit (OCB):  
* depending on the family's income, parents/guardians may qualify for the Ontario Child Benefit  
* there is no application for the OCB 
Special Needs: 
* provides and funds many special programs and services for children, and their families, who have problems relating to their physical health, emotional health, behaviour, development or mental health
