| Description | * assist residents to achieve optimum quality of life * help with recreational activities (bingo, outings, shopping trips, birthday and other parties, picnics, baking) * provide assistance with restorative therapy * help the nursing staff in the houses * provide escorts for residents attending appointments outside of Allendale * work one-on-one with people who are lonely (Friendly Visiting) * help in the Nutrition Department with Meals on Wheels * provide meal assistance (training provided) to those needing help at mealtimes * bring pets in to visit (after screening) * help in the office with Administrative Duties * provide palliative and pastoral care * look after our resident pets * assist with garden and plant care * Minimum age requirement for volunteering is 14 years (there is no top limit) * some evening and weekend programs are available during the school year * full summer student volunteer program runs June to September | ||

| Application | Informal tour, application, interview. Security clearance, two references and Flu Immunization test required during flu season (Nov- April)and 2 Step TB. Successful candidates receive orientation training including fire and occupational safety, meal assistance, infection control and general policies and procedures. Minimum time requirement 40 hours/3 months at 1 shift per week. | ||
