Description (Service) |
Community North Halton services for adults eligible for DSO funding
Residential Accommodations
- provides residential support to adults with developmental disabilities
- homes located in Milton and Georgetown
- people receiving support can share a home with up to four other people
- support is provided by staff on a shift-rotation basis
- residential services include: assistance with day-to-day routines * development of skills in meal preparation, household responsibilities, shopping, budgeting, and all aspects of daily living * administer medications and treatments * medical, dental and specialist consultations and follow-up * leisure and recreational activities

Supported Independent Living (SIL)
- provides support to adults with an intellectual disability, living in their own home or apartment to develop community connections and empower them to live independently within the community
- tailor to individual's unique needs, abilities, desires and goals
- services include: financial planning and budgeting * medical coordination * meal planning and preparation * apartment management including tenant-landlord issues * organizing social and recreational activities * supporting the involvement of family and friends and exercising one's rights

Supported Employment
- provides minimum support services and job opportunities to individuals to enable them to be competitively employed in the community
Community Employment
- assists with job search, job training and maintaining employment
- offered in Acton, Georgetown and Milton areas
- provides support for a volunteer work experience, work training or situational assessment
Community Living North Halton Employment
- offers two unique initiatives for meaningful employment - Horizon Packaging and the Lunch Box Cafe and Catering
- prepares individuals for mainstream competitive employment within a sheltered work place
- assists in boosting self-esteem, confidence and independence

Recreational Programs:
Friday Friends (ages 21-35)
- for young adults with developmental disabilities to participate in social activities and develop friendships in a fun and supportive environment
- available in Georgetown and Milton
- twice per month from 5 pm-9 pm
- open to participants between 18 and 30 years of age
- activities include movies, music, games, swimming, bowling, etc
Drop-In Centre (35+ years of age)
- for adults with developmental disabilities to gather in an informal and friendly atmosphere to enjoy recreational activities and social opportunities
- year round program available in Georgetown and Milton
- costs $25 twice per year
- includes movies, games, crafts, music and coffee time

Summer Camps (ages 21+ years)
- full day camps
- cost is per week per camper
- available in Georgetown and Milton
- spaces are limited
