Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Refugee Protection Division -- panel determines refugee claims * claimants may be represented by legal counsel * if determined eligible by Canada Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or Canada Border Services Agency, the claim is referred to a Refugee Determination hearing * upon positive evaluation of claim, refugee status will be confirmed and application for landed immigrant status may proceed * appeals of negative decisions reviewed by Refugee Appeal Division * for claims made before December 15, 2012 refer to processes for "legacy claims"

Immigration Appeal Division -- hears appeals on immigration-related matters including sponsorships, removal orders, and residency obligations

Documentation Centre -- 416-973-7070, Monday-Friday 10-2 * information and referral * information on refugees and profiles of conditions in countries from which refugee claimants are leaving * information on Canadian law and issues relating to the Immigration Act

Immigration Division -- conducts detention reviews and admissibility hearings for persons believed to be inadmissible or removable from Canada * located at 385 Rexdale Blvd, 416-401-8578, fax 416-744-4274

Any person receiving a decision from the Immigration and Refugee Board may seek leave to appeal to the Federal Court of Canada
