Description (Service) | COVID-19 -- physical offices are closed * health promotion and support still offered by phone, video conferencing, social media * for support call 416-831-9729 or email e.akan-essien@black-cap.com for information * Health Promotion -- weekly check-ins with group participants, groups sessions for MSM Outreach and Trans Women programs, street outreach on hold, may provide drug use kits on a call-in and drop-off basis * Online support groups -- Mental Health and Wellness 416-606-6190, Self Care Circle 416-659-2591, Life Tips Thursdays to cope with isolation 416-831-9729 * assistance and advocacy support as needed ---------------------------------------- HIV/AIDS education, prevention and support, including information on HIV and STI (sexually transmitted infections) risk, sexual health and healthy relationships * community workshops and forums, outreach, training for professionals and organizations, culturally specific materials * prevention programs for youth, women, and gay, bisexual, queer, questioning, trans and other men who have sex with men (MSM) * community-based * volunteer opportunities Community Outreach Program -- focus on heterosexual youth and adults * sexual health awareness and education, and harm reduction Harm Reduction -- inhalation and injection kit exchange, street outreach * drop-in for substance using and under-housed individuals * school and community-based workshops on harm reduction and substance use Support Programs -- counselling and support for Black people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, including referrals and follow-up, practical assistance, home and hospital visits, treatment, support groups * housing and employment support * youth program * child care and emergency financial assistance for eligible clients Settlement Program -- counselling, support, outreach and prevention for Black, African and Caribbean immigrants and refugees, including LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning) individuals * Refugee Settlement Program -- orientation, information and referrals, and assistance accessing services * assistance with immigration system * practical supports such as accompaniment to appointments, form and documentation completion and emergency financial assistance * housing and employment help * assistance in finding a doctor and living with treatment * language and skills development * interpretation and translation * social opportunities Member agency of Toronto Drop-in Network (TDIN) |
