|Description (Service)||Donation program for persons who choose to donate their bodies for educational purposes
* fundamental to education of students in anatomical and medical sciences
* foundation for further studies in medical and health sciences and medical illustration
* vital part of the education of numerous high school and college students taking life sciences, as well as for healthcare professionals in numerous fields taking educational enhancement workshops in anatomy; this gift of learning is received with gratitude and the anatomy program is conducted with the deepest of respect and dignity to all donors
Human Tissue Gift Act (1971) and Anatomy Act allow for bequeathal of a body for advancement of medical science, provided there is no objection by the next-of-kin. Body donations are overseen by the Chief Coroner of Ontario ( Chief Inspector of Anatomy).
**Donations cannot be accepted without consent of the next-of-kin or executor. It is strongly recommended that potential donors discuss their wishes with their family.
It is suggested that the donor also informs their physician, lawyer and funeral director of their wishes. The next-of-kin, executor, or person lawfully in charge of the body must be in a position to act immediately following the donor's death.
Donations must fall within the acceptance criteria for the Human Anatomy Program at the University of Guelph. Families must be prepared for a second option if an anatomy school in Ontario is unable to accept the body.

|Eligibility||Anyone may donate their body. However, illnesses, condition of body and cause of death largely determine who may be accepted. Suitability for acceptance will be determined as soon as possible at the time of death. |Fees||Donation - welcomes donations to the Human Anatomy Learning Centre ; There are no fees for body donation to the University of Guelph. Donations in memory of the donor's special gift of learning by well wishers, family and friends to The Human Anatomy Program, University of Guelph, are deeply appreciated.
The estate of the donor is responsible for cost of transfer of the deceased, and administrative costs related to registration of death in Ontario.
