Description (Agency) The City of Burlington Capital Works Department is responsible for  
* managing environmental issues, policy development 
* coordinating corporate initiatives to green city operations 
* design and construction of all roads, sidewalks, parks, open spaces, bridges and sewers 
* geomatics, infrastructure management and engineering reviews for subdivisions, site plans and re-zonings

Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Offers five community gardens locations with 204 plots altogether (13 raised accessible plots are available for individuals with limited mobility) 
* located at Amherst Park (33 plots), Central Park (55 plots), Francis Road Bikeway (23 plots), Ireland Park (42 plots) and Maple Park (51 plots) 
* ground framed plots are 2m x 3.6m, accessible plots range from 1m x 2m to 1m x 3m and are available at each garden location 
* each garden has full sun; and supplies water, soil, compost, a storage shed, some large tools, compost bins and a picnic table 
* all locations can be accessed by Burlington Transit, walking, cycling and driving (lot or street parking available) 
 
Permit holders are expected to: 
* provide their own plants, seeds and garden supports/ornaments 
* follow all garden rules and help to maintain the common areas of the garden and keep water barrels full 
 
Volunteer opportunities to help grow food for food bank donation are available through the Burlington Food Bank at Maple Park, and BurlingtonGreen at Central Park * interested people should contact these organizations directly to speak with their volunteer coordinators 
 
Donations 
Donations of tools in good condition, patio umbrellas with stands, vegetable seeds and seedlings are welcome * contact the Community Garden Coordinator 
 
Tours 
Free tours for horticulture groups, school field trips, or youth summer camps can be arranged for any location * contact the Community Garden Coordinator
Hours City Hall: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm 
Garden: dawn to dusk, May to end of third weekend in Oct

Application Online application form must be submitted prior to November 30 
* applicants may select which garden location and plot style they prefer 
* all applicants will be notified if they have been assigned a plot or not by early December 
 
Note:  
* only one plot may be assigned per household 
* plots are assigned by lottery for one year due to demand
