Description (Agency) The City of Burlington Capital Works Department is responsible for

* coordinating corporate initiatives to green city operations 
* design and construction of all roads, sidewalks, parks, open spaces, bridges and sewers

Description and Service Details
Description (Service) In 2018 the City of Burlington will offer five community gardens with 164 plots * 13 raised accessible plots are available for individuals with limited mobility 
* located at Amherst Park, Central Park, Francis Rd Bikeway, Ireland Park and Maple Park  
* 2m x 3.6m ground plots and 1m x 2m raised accessible plots are available at each garden location 
* all locations are accessible and have full sun 
* all locations can be accessed by Burlington Transit, walking, cycling and driving, and have lot or street parking available 
* water, soil, compost, a storage shed and a picnic table are provided 
 
Donations 
Welcomes donations of tools in good condition, vegetable seeds and seedlings (please contact Community Garden Coordinator prior to donating). 
 
Tours 
Tours with learning activities for groups, schools or youth may be arranged at any location by contacting the Community Garden Coordinator
Hours City Hall: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm * garden hours vary
Dates Garden season runs from beginning of May to end of third week in October

Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and up
Application Garden plots are allotted by lottery with a deadline of Nov 30 to submit an application 
* applicants may select which garden location and plot style they prefer 
* all applicants will be notified if they have been assigned a plot or not by early Dec 
 
Gardeners currently assigned a plot do not retain their plot year over year and only one plot may be assigned per household * gardeners may re-enter the lottery during the application period * with a limited number of garden plots, this policy helps to ensure fair access to all those interested
