Description and Service Details
Description (Service) World Renew (part of the Christian Reformed Church in North America) joins communities around the world to renew hope, reconcile lives, and restore creation, through programs in:  
* community development 
* disaster response and rehabilitation 
* advocacy 
 
Community Development:  
* works in partnership with more than 70 churches and community organizations to train local people to be leaders in their own communities.  
* together, they help communities tap into their own abilities and resources to address issues such as illiteracy, hunger, malnutrition, unemployment, HIV/AIDS, child mortality and injustice  
 
Disaster Response and Rehabilitation: 
* responds to urgent needs arising from disasters in North America and internationally 
* this includes clearing debris, assessing needs, training local leaders, repairing and rebuilding damaged homes, and distributing emergency food, water, shelter, and other supplies 
* also includes staying for the long-term to help people rebuild homes, businesses and livelihoods in a way that reduces the risks of future disasters.  
 
Refugee Resettlement  
* World Renew is a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) with the Government of Canada and helps refugees from around the world come to Canada and begin a new life here.  
 
Advocacy:  
* reaches out to people in North America and around the world in an effort to connect them to ministry, deepen their understanding of global issues, and encourage them to act and advocate on behalf of those in need.
