Description and Service Details
Description (Service) This topic record provides an overview of infant seat and booster seat laws, and car seat clinics. 
By law, drivers are responsible for ensuring passengers under 16 years of age are secured properly  
* it is mandatory for anyone transporting children to make sure they are properly secured in a child car seat, booster seat or seatbelt 
* this applies to all caregivers, including babysitters, grandparents, etc. 
* for details on specific requirements for different age groups from infants to youth, installation and tips, see Ontario Ministry of Transportation website here  
* those who cannot afford a car seat should contact Halton Region's Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program (see separate record here) for suggestions  
* used car seats are not accepted at local thrift stores
