Public Comments Services altered in response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) 
 
The City of Burlington has suspended all City-run spring programs and extended the closure of some recreation facilities, parks, playgrounds, sports fields and City administration facilities to the end of June 
* all bookings will be cancelled, and credits will be placed on accounts (refunds will be issued based on requests) 
* essential services and those services that provide direct support to keep residents and staff safe will be maintained (these include areas such as Burlington Fire, Burlington Transit including Handi-Van, Traffic Services, ByLaw Enforcement, Roads, Parks and Forestry Operations, Building Inspections and ServiceBurlington) 
* staff continue to work from home to maintain City services such as Community Planning, City Capital Works and various Corporate Services 
* for further assistance, email city@burlington.ca

Planning Division  
Responsibilities include: 
* Official Plan and planning policy intended to provide guidance for the development of the City 
* rezoning applications  
* subdivision and condominium applications  
* parkway belt applications  
* Niagara Escarpment Commission application  
* site plan applications 
 
Building Division: 
* primary function is to receive, review and issue building permit applications in conformance with the Ontario Building Code and the City of Burlington's Zoning By-law 2020 
* responsible for bylaw enforcement (for more information see separate listing here)  
* responsible for issuing permits and licences (for more information see separate listing here
* oversees the animal control functions of the Burlington Animal Shelter (for more information see separate listing here
 
Committee of Adjustment  
Considers applications for:  
* minor variances and permissions to the Zoning Bylaw  
* applications severing land  
* laying down easements  
* long-term leases

Arts and Culture Division: 
* acquires and maintains public art through the public art development implementation team 
* manages public art promotions and donations 
* implements the Public Art Master Plan and its related policies (Art in Public Spaces, Private Sector Public Art and Community Initiated Public Art) 
* raises the cultural profile in Burlington by collaborating with local artists  
* serves as Community Organizer for Culture Days 
* develops relationships and engages with the arts and cultural community 
* supports the arts and cultural community through the Burlington Arts and Culture Fund Program 
* maintains a database of cultural resources in Burlington
