Description (Service) Municipal election for the City of Burlington Mayor, members of City and Regional Councils and school board trustees 
The 2018 municipal election will be held Mon Oct 22, 2018 * term of office for those elected is Dec 3, 2018 to Nov 14, 2022

The City Clerk serves as returning officer under the Municipal Elections Act and is responsible for conducting municipal elections once every four years in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act. This involves preparing voters' lists, receiving nominations of candidates running for office, preparing ballots, selecting staff for polling stations for election day and tabulating and distributing election results.

Application Nominations 
Nominations for mayor, councillors, or school board trustees can be filed at the City of Burlington municipal offices, clerks department, during regular business hours from May 1-Jul 27 (2pm deadline on July 27) * it is recommended that individuals make an appointment with the clerks department to file nomination papers 
Note: nominations for Regional Chair are to be filed with Halton Region * nominations for Trustee, Conseil scolaire Viamonde are to be filed with City of Hamilton * nominations for Trustee, Conseil scolaire de district Catholique Centre-Sud are to be filed with Town of Oakville
