Description and Service Details
Description (Service) Offers a variety of programs and services to families with children ages 0-6 years. Parents may obtain information regarding healthy child development and access early years services in the community. 
 
Major services: 
* accessible, quality, social and educational programs, informal support networks 
* a variety of registered programs for parents and their children 
* informal drop-in programs 
* parenting courses, workshops and guest speakers 
* resource library for parents 
 
Cumberland parent-child drop-in programs: 
Breastfeeding clinic:  
* Wednesday 9:30 am-12 noon (last client accepted at 11:15 am) 
* staffed by an RN who is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant 
* resources and books available to nursing mothers 
 
Breastfeeding meet-up: 
* 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month 1 pm-3 pm 
* meet-up with other breastfeeding moms 
* different topic discussed at each meet-up followed by a question and answer period 
* group led by an RN who is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant 
 
Family drop-in:  
* Monday and Friday 9:15 am-12 noon * Saturday 12:30 pm-3 pm 
* for parents/caregivers and children newborn-6 years * activities include creative art and sensory activities * toys * free play * reading or circle times 
 
Play, Learn and Grow Drop-in:  
* Monday 1:30 pm-3:30 pm * newborn-16 months * flexible drop-in program, babies explore a wide variety of open-ended materials that build on their emerging skills and interests as they grow * adults enjoy conversation and meeting others  
 
Stepping Stones drop-in: 
* Wednesday 10:30 am-11:30 am, for accompanied children newborn-6 years with a physical or mental delay who are currently in treatment for that delay 
 
Dad's drop-in program: 
* Saturday 9:30 am-11:30 am * dads and children newborn-6 years * dads get a chance to talk with other dads, learn games and songs * story time * free play * music and movement activities 
 
Drop-in parenting groups: 
* parents of infants - Thursday 1 pm-3 pm 
* parents of toddlers and preschoolers - Thursday 9:30 am-11:30 am 
 
Perinatal Mood Disorder Peer Support Group  
* drop-in 
* 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month 1 pm-3 pm  
* partnership with Halton Region Public Health Dept  
* childcare available during program, call in advance 905-632-9377
