Description and Service Details
Description (Service) A volunteer citizens' advisory committee to Council, reporting through the Budget and Corporate Services Committee. 
BAAC provides advice on identification, removal and prevention of barriers to people with disabilities in the municipality's by-laws and policies, programs and services.  
* assists with preparation of the City's multi-year accessibility plan  
* regularly reviews site-plans submitted to the Planning Department  
* carries out accessibility audits  
* promotes accessibility and disability awareness through public education, trade shows, and the Burlington Accessibility Awards
Hours Office hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm. 
Meetings second Thu of each month (Jan-Jun * Sep-Nov) at 7 pm in City Hall

Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and up 
As required by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, the majority of committee members are individuals with disabilities.
Application Request for citizen applications is made in the Fall of each year with the appointment to the committee made in January * forms available at the Clerks Dept, City Hall, 426 Brant St, Burlington or online at www.burlington.ca
