Description (Service)

Committee promotes the conservation of buildings that have architectural and historical significance

  • has created an inventory of historical homes within the city and develops detailed resumes of properties which may be worthy of designation
  • acts as an advisory committee to Council and comments on applications to renovate or restore historic properties
  • also hosts an annual Heritage Awards evening

Municipal Cultural Heritage Register contains information and maps of heritage properties that are regulated by the City of Burlington under the Ontario Heritage Act

The Register contains two types of properties, which may be privately or publicly owned:

  • Designated heritage properties that have been designated under the Heritage Act and Non-designated heritage properties that have not been designated but still have cultural heritage value or interest
