Description and Service Details
Description (Service) This record summarizes holiday season donation and sponsorship programs, community meals which provide an opportunity for all members of the public to enjoy a Christmas meal with others (all are free of charge), and volunteering opportunities.  
Volunteer Halton has volunteering opportunities for a wide range of local nonprofit organizations.  
Christmas Assistance, Food and Toy Hampers 
Acton Christmas Hamper Committee 
Those struggling to meet family needs this Christmas season can apply to receive a food and toy hamper.  
Where: Apply at The Salvation Army Community Church, 114 Mill St E, Acton. Applications must be completed in person. Bring identification for all family members and current proof of residency. Applications cannot be taken unless these are provided.  
When: Application dates are: 
Tue, Nov. 7th and Wed, Nov. 8th, 10 am-12 noon 
Tue, Nov. 14th and Wed, Nov. 15th, 1-3 pm 
Tue, Nov. 21st and Wed, Nov. 22nd, 10 am-12 noon 
Tue, Nov. 28th and Wed, Nov. 29th, 1-3 pm 
Nov 29 is the final deadline for applications. 
Food hampers will be distributed on Sat, Dec. 16th at St. Joseph Patron of Canada Church, 64 Church St E, Acton. 
Links2Care Holiday Giving Program 
Families and individuals in need can apply to receive gifts of pajamas, socks, underwear and toiletries for children up to 16 years of age from eligible low income families in Halton Hills.  
Where: Applications are available online or by contacting Links2Care. Proof of income is required. 
When: Deadline for application is Dec. 1st

The Salvation Army Georgetown Community Church 
Applications for Christmas assistance. Applicants must bring identification for themselves and anyone else being named on the application (including children), proof of rent and proof of income.

Food and Toy Drives 
Halton Regional Police Service - Toys for Tots/Treasures for Teens 
Members of the public are invited to make a donation of new, unwrapped toys for children and teens ages 10-16 years, Canadian Tire money or cash.  
Where: any Canadian Tire location or police station in Halton Region. Local drop off locations are the Halton Regional Police Service - 11 Division, 217 Guelph Street, Georgetown and Canadian Tire, 315 Guelph Street, Georgetown.

The Salvation Army Georgetown Community Church 
Toy Drive donations are needed by Dec. 18th. Especially needed are donations of gifts and gift cards for children and teens ages 10-18 years.

Acton Community Christmas Dinner 
Free, volunteer-run dinner open to anyone in the community looking for something to do for Christmas Day. 
Where: St. Albans Hall, 19 St. Albans Drive, Acton
