|Description (Service)||This listing summarizes holiday season donation and sponsorship programs, community meals which provide an opportunity for all members of the public to enjoy a Christmas meal with others (all are free of charge), and volunteering opportunities.
Volunteer Halton has volunteering opportunities for a wide range of local nonprofit organizations.
Christmas Assistance, Food and Toy Hampers
Acton Christmas Hamper Committee
Those struggling to meet family needs this Christmas season can apply to receive a food and toy hamper.
Where: Apply at The Salvation Army Community Church, 114 Mill St E, Acton. Applications must be completed in person. Bring current (not expired) identification for all family members as well as current proof of residency. Applications cannot be taken unless these are provided.
When: Application dates are:
Tue, Nov 5th and Wed, Nov 6th, 1:30-3:30 pm
Tue, Nov 12th and Wed, Nov 13th, 10 am-12 noon
Tue, Nov 19th and Wed, Nov 20th, 1-3 pm
Tue, Nov 26th and Wed, Nov 27th, 10 am-12 noon
Tue, Dec 3rd, 10 am-12 noon
Dec 3 is the final deadline for applications.
Food hampers will be distributed on Sat, Dec 14th at St. Joseph Patron of Canada Church, 64 Church St E, Acton.
Links2Care Holiday Giving Program
Families and individuals in need can apply to receive gifts of pajamas, socks, underwear and toiletries for children up to 18 years of age from eligible low income families in Halton Hills.
Where: Applications are available online or by contacting Links2Care. Proof of income is required.
When: Deadline for application is Dec 6th

Donations: Holiday Giving Sponsors will be provided with a family profile with children’s genders, ages, sizes and clothing needs. Monetary donations are also very much appreciated, and can be allocated directly to this program upon request. Gifts should be unwrapped but wrapping paper, gift bags, ribbon and tape may be included with donations.

Donations: toy drive donations are needed by Sun, Dec 15th, especially in need of gifts and gift cards for children and youth ages 10-18 years; monetary donations in support of the Christmas campaign can be mailed to The Salvation Army, PO Box 199, Georgetown, ON, L7G 4YS.

Halton Regional Police Service - Toys for Tots
Members of the public are invited to make a donation of new, unwrapped toys for children and teens ages 10-16 years.
Where: any police station in Halton Region.
When: Toys must be dropped off by Thu, Dec 5th
Active Choice Rehabilitation Centre Food and Toy Drive
Active Choice is collecting new toys and non-perishable food items for the holiday season to be donated to The Salvation Army Church/Acton Food Share.

Free Christmas lunch with turkey and all the trimmings. Everyone is welcome and transportation is available for those who need a ride.
